CANCER COLLECTIVE

Who We Are

Our Why

In 2021, Faye’s world took a transformative turn when her best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. During a heartfelt late-night conversation with her friend, Charmaine, who resided in Cape Town, South Africa, the seeds of inspiration were sown.

Charmaine, finding solace in various complementary therapies to manage her symptoms and treatment side effects, expressed her astonishment at the lack of awareness she had about these invaluable modalities prior to her illness.

This poignant revelation ignited Faye’s curiosity about the countless others living with cancer who might be uninformed of these beneficial approaches or unable to access them due to financial constraints.

Working as a dedicated hypnotherapist, Faye had consistently allocated a portion of her time to supporting those who lacked financial means. Deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients, she believed that there were other practitioners who shared her passion and would be willing to donate their time and expertise. Faye took the initiative to reach out to online groups and organisations to test her idea, and the response she received was nothing short of overwhelming.

In just six months, fueled by like-minded practitioners’ incredible support and enthusiasm, the Golden Rose Cancer Collective was established as an official registered charity. This milestone marked the beginning of a transformative journey. Faye and the collective’s members came together with an unwavering dedication to providing essential support, guidance, and healing to individuals battling cancer.

We Need Support

Today, we extend our heartfelt invitation to join our ever-growing tribe. We are actively seeking dedicated practitioners who are willing to contribute their valuable time, compassionate supporters who can make financial donations, and individuals who are seeking holistic support on their healing journey.

Our vision reaches far beyond merely connecting practitioners with beneficiaries. We aspire to build a comprehensive website that serves as a hub of knowledge and inspiration, showcasing firsthand experiences to educate visitors about various complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modalities.

We wholeheartedly acknowledge the pressing need for this transformative platform and firmly believe in its immense potential. However, we cannot achieve this mission alone. We rely on your support to bring this vision to life.

Together, we can empower cancer patients, foster a robust and nurturing support network, and cultivate widespread knowledge and understanding of holistic approaches. Your involvement will play a pivotal role in creating a brighter future for those affected by cancer. Join us today and let’s make a difference together.

The Board

Faye Hartley-Youens

Faye is a mental performance coach, hypnotherapist, and the founder of The Golden Rose Cancer Collective. The inspiration behind her charity came after experiencing the loss of her best friend to lung cancer, which occurred 21 years after her mother passed away from breast cancer.

One night, during a late phone call, her friend asked a poignant question: “Why didn’t I know about all these treatments before I got sick?” This referred to the complementary therapies she had been using to manage anxiety, pain, and the side effects of her treatment.

This question sparked Faye’s curiosity about how many other cancer patients were unaware of these beneficial complementary therapies, and further how many of these people living with cancer could even afford them. Here the idea for the Golden Rose Charity was born.

Keith Youens

Keith, Faye’s husband, is a business consultant who played a crucial role in the development of the charity from its early stages to its establishment. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 27 years ago, giving him firsthand insight into the devastating effects of this disease.

Keith’s unwavering support was instrumental in the charity’s inception, and he served as an invaluable sounding board for Faye as the charity idea took shape and became a reality. As the charity progresses, Keith remains actively involved, providing ongoing strategic guidance and business support to ensure its continued success.

Carrie Forbes

Carrie is a hypnotherapist and a breast cancer survivor and intimately understands the emotional turmoil and challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis. She recognises the tremendous value of having access to alternative approaches which can address the mental, emotional, and physical toll of cancer and its treatment, particularly during the uncertainty of that time.

Carrie loves being involved with the Golden Rose Cancer Collective, is passionate about helping those going through similar cancer experiences and having such an enriching opportunity to give back.
